Reason analysis of malfunction of incomplete differential protection for a generator

Abstract

Abstract: The differential protection is main protection for generator, and if it can act correctly will directly influence on the security of the main equipment and the stable operation of the system. The reasons of the malfunction of the incomplete differential protection of a generator were analyzed; and it is pointed out that the basic reason of malfunction of differential protection is the deterioration of the excitation characteristics of the current transformer used in differential protection circuit.
