Abstract: The time synchronization for the smart grid must have high accuracy and high safety. According to this requirement, a time synchronization scheme for smart grid was given. In this scheme, the power system time synchronization technology, in which the Beidou/GPS dual mode timing and the protocol IEEE1588 are combined, was adopted. According to the differences of operation mode and desired timing accuracy, different time synchronization configuration schemes suitable for the master station and suitable for substations were given respectively. Then the time synchronization of whole smart grid was realized.
