Comparison of electronic instrument transformer and electromagnetic instrument transformer and their application in smart power grid

Abstract: The composition and the operating principle of the traditional electromagnetic instrument transformer and the electronic instrument transformer were introduced. The advantages and the disadvantages of the two types of instrument transformer were compared and illustrated by practical examples. The sampled variables in intelligent substation and in traditional substation were compared; and the development direction of the instrument transformer was prospected.
