Abstract:

Time of flight diffraction (TOFD )is used to test the weld. If other parameters are given, a probe with a higher frequency can reduce the height of the surface dead zone to a certain extent. However, considering the theory of sound beam diffusion, the probe with a higher frequency has a smaller sound beam coverage, which hinder full coverage of waves on the welds. Based on the ultrasonic beam diffusion theory, combined with the welding process and other factors, the reasonable probe parameters of work pieces with different thicknesses can be obtained, which can provide reference for relevant personnel to prepare the TOFD detection process.
