Fault analysis of a 600MW hydrogenerator stator winding damage

Abstract

Abstract:

The differential protection and stator grounding protection of a 600MW generator set in a large hydropower station suddenly operated during generator starting before griding，which caused the startup failure. Through the analysis on the protection action record and the fault recorded data before and after the fault, treatment and repair were made on the stator coil bar,the core and the rotor pole block that caused the fault.The fault was completely solved. The troubleshooting process is analyzed and suggestions for improvement are put forward from the relay protection.
