Research on automatic and seamless switching technology for virtual backup measurement and control units in smart substations

Abstract

Abstract:

Redundant backup measurement and control devices were introduced into the automation systems in the third generation smart substations. As a backup device for the main measurement and control device that was configured in each interval, redundant backup measurement and control device could simulate many virtual measurement and control units to realize the backup for multiple main measurement and control devices.The application scenarios of two devices in substations were introduced, and the current difficulties and shortcomings of the backup measurement and control devices in switching process were analyzed. A relatively reliable method that can solve the problem in their coordination and realize automatic and seamless switching between the two devices is introduced, which makes the automation system in substation more intelligent.
