Abstract:

WC9 cast steel is commonly used in components of thermal power plants. Domestic and international standards do not have relevant requirements for their hardness and metallographic structure. It is difficult to evaluate  quality of cast steel valves for inservice units only by onsite inspection. Through the specific case study, it expounded how to make quality evaluation and performance analysis for safety valves running for nearly 30,000 hours of inservice units in thermal power plants. Effective method was finally proposed and was of great significance for the safe and reliable operation of the power plant in the future. At the same time, it is also suggested that  power plants and suppliers should make  requirements on hardness and metallographic organization as a supplement to the standard through consultation, which can provide references for the later inspection during the operation.
