Abstract: A breakdown accident occurred in the cross point of the 110kV line and the 35kV line of a substation and caused that the main transformer differential protection skiplevel tripped, a grounding fault occurred in the outside B phase and a lightning arrester breakdown accident occurred in internal C phase. Combining with the tripping report and the waveform, using the fault sequence component analysis method, the reasons of the accident were analyzed, and the improvement scheme was proposed to prevent similar accident.
