Abstract: Abstract:The coal for Duyen Hai II Coalfired Power Plant in Vietnam is higher volatile coal, and the coal supply is relative stable. Based on analysis of the burning characteristics, the burnout characteristics and the slagging characteristics of the coal, the feasibility to apply the plasma ignition system, to cancel the fuel oil system and to construct oilfree coalfired power plant is researched. Based on estimation, after the fuel oil system was cancelled and the plasma ignition system was installed, the cost of one unit during commissioning period can be reduced by 26.5 millions Yuan. 
