Abstract: By the research and quest on the bird feces proofing splinter complemented with double umbrella skirt composite insulator, the experiences on prevention of bird harms for transmission lines were introduced, the principle of the bird feces proofing splinter complemented with double umbrella skirt composite insulator was elaborated. Combining with the application effects, the advantages, disadvantages and matters needing attention on this technique were analyzed. Aiming at the flashover faults of transmission lines caused by bird feces, the new solving thoughts were proposed, and the fault rate of bird harms of transmission lines was lowered.
