Abstract: The larger vibration of the exciter bearing bush of 50 MW unit in a thermal power plant influenced on the unit safe operation. The characteristics and the law of the vibration were researched and analyzed, and the fault reason has been determined that the connecting force between the rotating rectifier insulating board of exciter and the bolts was not sufficient, which causes the insulating board shifting and the bearing bush vibration increasing. After the bolts had been tightened up, the vibration fault was eliminated.
