Failure analysis of air preheater of 350MW supercritical unit

Abstract:

Based on Jiantou Chengde Power and Heat Company Limited 350MW unit, cause of rotary air preheater main shaft stalling failure was analyzed. After internal inspection and flue gas temperature curve analysis, air preheater rotatable parts were conformed function properly. Combined with motor current trend before and after failure, the main cause was determined as transmission part failure. After reducer disassemble inspection, it was found that final drive gear bearing inner race fracture, retainer damage and transmission lost. After changing failed bearing, air preheater returned to normal. Combined with monitoring data, the failure process was reproduced. Preventive advices were provided.
