Review on planning and operation methods for power system with participation of electrochemical energy storage systems

Abstract:

The intermittence and fluctuation of wind and PV power deters their large-scale grid-connection. Battery energy storage technology is an excellent solution for the predicament above since it is of fast response, high regulation accuracy, environmental protection, small size and flexibility. In order to promote the application of electrochemical energy storage technology in power systems, reduce fossil energy consumption, and achieve the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, the capacity configurations and scheduling strategies of electrochemical energy storage systems in different utilization scenarios,such as facilitating new energy consumption, peak-load shaving and frequency modulation,are analysed and summarized. The optimization on planning and operation a power system with the participation of electrochemical energy storage devices will be made based on the operating AI, to further improve the stability and reliability of power system.
