Abstract:

Under the "dual carbon" target, the new power system with high proportion of renewable energy is becoming more intelligent, and the applications of phase measurement units (PMU), wide area metering systems (WAMS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology get wider. Meanwhile, the safe and stable operation of new power systems is under great challenges. Situational awareness technology can make power system operation visible and controllable. The mapping and classification of situational awareness technology in power systems under the architecture of "perception-understanding-prediction" is introduced, and the new problems imposed to the safe and stable operation of new power systems are analysed. The research status and application of situational awareness technology in source-load prediction, safe and stable operation and real-time operation state analysis are summarized, which provides references for subsequent researches.

Key words: "dual carbon" target, renewable energy, new power system, situational awareness, safety and stability, system operation state, "perception-understanding-prediction" architecture
