Abstract:

Under the "dual carbon" target, new energy ushers in a leapfrog development, which makes an higher requirement for power system flexibility. The regulation capacity of concentrating solar power (CSP)plants can rival that of conventional thermal units. CSP plants can participate in peak load and frequency regulations timely and deeply, which improves the flexibility of the power system. Thus,CSP is a promising renewable energy generation technology. Based on the introduction on the operation principle and structure of a CSP plant, the advantages, disadvantages and research progress of various CSP technologies are analyzed. The problems and development direction of CSP technology are discussed based on the status quo and demand of CSP.

Key words: solar energy, concentrating solar power, flexible operation, thermal storage, renewable energy accommodation, "dual carbon" target, frequency and load regulation
