Boiler water circulating pump is the important auxiliary equipment for boiler steam and water circulating, because of having to bear with the impact of high temperature and high pressure water, its working condition is extremely wretched, while its failure would have serious influent on boiler operation. This paper analyzed three reasons which have made pump failures in the last 10 years: unqualified insulation craftwork of winding lead wire, halfhearted overhaul, unreasonable parameters and manners of operation and startingup/shuttingdown. After implementing the improved measures aiming at those problems, the failures times of boiler water pump have been reduced, and the reliability of the pump operation has been raised.

Due to the asreceived coal grade was reduced and the sundries in raw coal was increased, the directfired system of 1025t/h boiler of Shengli Power Plant was often blocked, and this caused the combustion of boiler to be not stable and the combustible matter in flyash to be increased. The blockage reason of the directfired system was analyzed, and an improvement scheme was determined and implemented. Then, the safety, stable and economical operation of the boiler was ensured.

In the operation of turbogenerator set, the overheat phenomenon of stator bar was happened occasionally. According to the water flow test, it is decided that the main reasons of higher temperature of the generator stator bar are the corrosion of stator bar and water tube blockage by foreign body, which causes the water path to be narrow and the flow velocity of stator cooling water to be slowly. After the bar had been purged by water hammer, the water flow is not exceeding the average by ±10% and is accordance with evaluation requirement. Finally, the concrete measures for prevention of generator stator bar corrosion were given.

The severe wear of shaft gland sleeve is widely existed in middle and small turbine units due to frequently startingup. In most thermal power plants, all front gland seals (rear gland seals) were adjusted according to the upper limit of specified value of the clearance given by manufacturer or larger value, and this caused the steam leakage of front gland seal to increase gradually, even caused the quality of turbine oil to deteriorate seriously. An adjustment method, in which the specified value given by manufacturer is combined with the maximum allowable value during hot startingup, was proposed, and the wear between the moving and static parts of gland seal was avoided successfully by the method.

The drainage of #7 and #8 low pressure heaters of a supercritical 600MW unit were impeded. The main causes were that the pressure difference in steam sides of #7 and #8 low pressure heaters was smaller, the level difference of drainage was larger and the resistance of drain pipe was larger. In the drainage reformation of a power corporation, the measures for reducing the system resistance, such as reducing the level difference of drainage, eliminating the drain valve, optimizing the pipe line allocation and so on, were adopted. After reformation and under the load greater than 300MW, the normal drainage of #7 and #8 low pressure heaters was realized.
