The main ways in energysaving of high capacity power boilers were summarized which include to put more efforts in technical reformation, to strengthen management and adjustment of boiler operation, to tap the energysaving potential of auxiliary equipment, to research the combustion of lowgrade coal, to reduce the accident rate, and etc. Some concrete suggestions were put forward, and several examples were analyzed.

Based on summarizing and digesting foreign technique, according to the actual conditions of China, the main technical characteristics and operation features of the supercritical boilers with capacity greater than 600MW by the Shanghai Boiler Works Corporatiom Limited, the Dongfang Boiler Group Corporatiom Limited and the Harbin Boiler Corporatiom Limited were studied. The main technical characteristics of the boilers were analyzed and compared. Aiming at the problems existed in domestic main boilers for power plant, four opinions were put forward.

A babbit peel off fault was take place in No.1 bush of an unit in some plant. The chemical composition analysis, the metallurgical structure analysis, The XRD analysis and the Xray energy spectrum analysis were accomplished for the peeled babbit alloy. The results show that the Sb content was accorded with the requirement, and the contents of Cu, Pb and Zn were not conformed to the standard. In the babbit alloy, the β′ phase(SnSb) exist slight aliquation at individual local position, but serious aliquition, delamination and other casting defects were not discovered. The average proportion of the sum of ε phase(Cu6Sn5) and β′ phase(SnSb) was 39.5%, there was ε layer discovered at the alloy side of joint surface Sn layer. It is suggest that the allowed chemical composition deviation range and the contents requirement of hard phases should be listed clearly in the order agreement of same parts.

Since the No.2 unit of a power plant was put into production, the economical indicators and the heat rate always were higher than the design values, and the unit efficiency was not reached to the design demand. Therefore, the turbine thermodynamic performance test was carried out before No.2 unit overhaul, and the turbine heat rate and the efficiency of high pressure cylinder and middle pressure cylinder under three operation conditions of 3VWO, 450MW and 300MW were obtained by calculation. Then the reason of higher heat rate of No.2 unit turbine had been found, and some optimization measures were proposed providing reference for overhaul and technical reformation of No.2 unit.

The electric pump is usually used to feed water for boiler during the startup and shutdown processes of 600MW supercritical units, the turbofeed pump starts to work until the unit load reaches 30% BMCR. Through continuous exploration, one power plant has used successfully the turbofeed pumps to feed water for boiler of 600MW supercritical unit during the whole process of startup and shutdown, and the electric feed pump was only as backup, this optimal way of feeding water is effective on saving electricity and increases the economical efficiency of unit operation.

Therefore, the ash conveying effects of first and second electric fields are very important for rational configuration scheme of whole system. The application of bending design for main service piping adopted in 2×1000MW ultrasupercritical units of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Third Power Plant was introduced. The technical advantage of the replacement of elbow by using of bending was analyzed. The comparing of concrete data shows that the adoption of bending design can reduce the investment, decrease the heat consumption rate which is helpful for energy conservation and emission reduction, and the design is beneficial for the piping safe operation simultaneously.

The working principle and structure of plasma igniting burner were introduced, and the configuration of its auxiliary system was described. When the plasma ignition system is applied in tangentially fired boiler, the FSSS control logic needs some modification, and this modification was analyzed. The plasma ignition operating procedure was described; the matters needing attention while plasma ignition burner is putting into operation and the problems existing in its operation were pointed out. Aiming at great amount of oil consumption in unit startup and shutdown process, the plasma ignition technology was adopted in a 600MW unit of Inner Mongolia Huadian Baotou Power Generation Corporation Limited; and the unit cold start and hot start, the unit shutdown with variable parameters, the repairs of induced draft fan, forced draft fan, primary air fan and air preheater were realized without oil consumption, and good economical effects were obtained.
