Taking the capacity expansion reformation of a limestonegypsum wet FGD system in a 600MW coalfired power plant as example, a reformation scheme of desulphurization system under the conditions of limited construction site and use old main equipments was introduced. After the reformation, when the high sulfur coal is burned, the emission can satisfy the requirement of relevant standard. The reformation technical solution can be used as reference for similar unit reformation.

The technical difficulty of deNOx system reformation project of coalfired power plant is larger, and its project cost is higher; so it was considered to cancel the standby catalyst layer in deNOx equipment. Based on comparative analysis of two management and operation modes of catalyst, which are ‘2+1’ and ‘2+0’, it was found that to cancel the standby catalyst layer can reduce project technical difficulties and the project cost, but it will increase the operation cost. The comparative analysis of deNOx equipments with and without standby catalyst layer can provide certain guidance and foundation for deNOx system reformation projects in planning and design stages.

Based on the fracture toughness test of the SUMITEN 950-TMCP highstrength steel welded joint, the CTOD (Crack Tip Opening Displacement) values of the parent metal, the welded seam and the heataffected zone were measured respectively; and the fracture toughness values of the various zones of the joint were compared. According to the test data, the antifracture performance of the steel and the welded joint was analyzed. Combining with the impact toughness test and the blast test data of the scale model bifurcated pipe, the eligibility criteria of the fracture toughness for highstrength steel was discussed. Some conditions satisfied with the steel used in hydropower project was proposed.

According to the research results, ensuring that the water content of gypsum can satisfy the requirement of relevant standard, the operation parameters of the dewatering system were adjusted, so the energy consumption of the dewatering system reduced to minimum.

The mass fraction of the combustible matter in fly ash greatly influences on the economic efficiency of the coalfired unit. In the heat loss of the boiler, the heat loss caused by mechanically incomplete combustion is about 2% and only less than the heat loss caused by the exhaust flue gas. Since the 420t/h boiler of a power plant in Guizhou was put into operation, the mass fraction of combustible matter in the fly ash is always higher. According to analysis, the reasons of the higher mass fraction of combustible matter in fly ash were found. The boiler equipments were reformed, and the combustion in the boiler was adjusted. So the mass fraction of the combustible matter in fly ash had been decreased greatly; and favorable economic benefit was obtained.
